End of Semester & Finals
At the end of each semester, the last day to submit late work will be five school days before the first day of finals. (Seniors will have an earlier date for semester two.) There will be no new assessments given on the two school days previous to the first day of finals. The department reassessment rules that exist in a class (see “Reassessment Policy” below) during the semester will be unchanged until the two days before the first day of finals. There will be no reassessment of a final. Teachers will not give early finals. Teachers and departments determine if their final is cumulative or specific to the most recent content. Finals are based upon identified standards and assess student proficiency towards these key standards.
Students must arrange an alternative option with an administrator if they have a planned absence overlapping with finals.
- Planned absences must be approved by all parties two-weeks prior to anticipated departure.
- Make-up finals will be administered during the summer or during the next school year. Teachers will not be expected to grade finals over the summer.
- Absences that occur during final exams due to illness or other extenuating circumstances may require medical clearance (including mental health days).
