Advanced Placement (AP)
Are you ready for a unique learning experience that will help you succeed in college? Through Advanced Placement’s (AP) college-level courses and exams, you can earn college credit and/or advanced placement at college and stand out in the admission process. AP courses can help you acquire the skills and habits you'll need to be successful in college. You'll improve your writing skills, sharpen your problem-solving abilities, and develop time management skills, discipline, and study habits. In May, students will take the AP examination (cost is approximately $97.00 for each exam, Seminar and Research costs approximately $145 each). Most colleges and universities in the U.S. will grant credits or advanced placement with successful performance on the AP Exam (Score of 4 or 5).
SHS offers the following AP courses:

● Studio Art: 2 Dimensions
● Music Theory
● Spanish Language
AP Capstone Program - All students may take courses with AP designation. AP Seminar is a prerequisite for AP Research. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research and on four additional AP Exams of their choosing will receive the AP Capstone Diploma. Students who earn scores of 3 or higher in AP Seminar and AP Research, but not on four additional AP Exams will receive the AP Seminar and Research Certificate. AP Seminar may also be taken as a stand-alone option.
AP Exams - An AP exam may only be administered on its scheduled date and scheduled time. Please note there will be no flexibility in this regard. AM exams begin at 8:00 AM and PM exams begin at 12:00 PM.
